The actress reacted after a YouTube channel, IycomeniaTV, allegedly published a report suggesting that she had died.
Abubakar said she became aware of the rumour after a relative forwarded the link to the video, prompting concern among family members, friends, and associates.
Speaking on the development, the actress expressed disappointment over the publication, questioning why anyone would spread such misinformation about another person.
She disclosed that her legal team has been instructed to take action against those responsible for circulating the report if it is not removed within a stipulated timeframe.
“I have been inundated with calls and messages from family members, relatives, and friends who became worried after seeing the fake and malicious report. For the record, I am alive and, by the grace of God, I will continue to live in good health,” she said.
Abubakar added that she could not understand the motive behind the rumour, describing it as a deliberate attempt to spread falsehood about her.
The actress further warned that legal action would be taken against individuals and platforms involved in disseminating the report.
“I have instructed my team to commence legal action against all platforms and persons spreading the rumour. I am giving them 24 hours to pull down the story or face the consequences legally,” she stated.
She also urged her fans and supporters in Nigeria and abroad to disregard the report, insisting that the claim was the handiwork of detractors seeking to cause unnecessary panic.
Abubakar reassured the public that she remains alive and well, while thanking those who reached out to verify her wellbeing following the circulation of the rumour.
