The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), following an update to its portal after the party’s convention in Abuja.
The move resolves uncertainties surrounding the party’s leadership and confirms a legally recognised structure for the PRP as political parties begin early positioning for the 2027 elections.
In a statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Bello Ishaq, said the update reflects INEC’s acknowledgment of the leadership that emerged from the convention.
According to the updated records, Kanu Sunday Uchenna is listed as National Secretary, while Bayawo Yunusa Abdullahi serves as National Treasurer.
Other officials include Chuka Patrick as National Financial Secretary and Vincent Danladi Okudu as National Legal Adviser.
The recognition followed a period of internal disputes within the party, marked by allegations of factional divisions, claims the PRP leadership has consistently denied.
Ishaq maintained that the party remains united, dismissing reports of factionalisation as baseless.
At the Abuja convention, Baba-Ahmed and other members of the National Working Committee were elected, alongside key officials including Deputy National Chairman (North), National Organising Secretary, National Auditor, and National Youth Leader.
Zonal representatives were also inaugurated to strengthen the party’s national structure.
With this update, the PRP joins other political parties with fully recognised leadership on INEC’s official platform, clearing a critical administrative step ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
