Speaker of Iran’s Parliament MB Ghalibaf on Tuesday, May 12, said that the US has no other option but to “accept the rights of the Iranian people”, and not doing so would result in continuous failure.

As the negotiations between the United States and Iran continue through the mediation of Pakistan, Ghalibaf in a post on X (formerly Twitter) said, “There is no alternative but to accept the rights of the Iranian people as laid out in the 14-point proposal.”

“Any other approach will be completely inconclusive; nothing but one failure after another,” he added.
Ghalibaf also said that the longer the US “drag their feet” during the conflict, the more “American taxpayers will pay” for it.

Ghalibaf’s remarks come after he issued a threat that Iranian military is “ready” for any kinds of further attacks.

“Our armed forces are ready to deliver a well-deserved response to any aggression; mistaken strategy and mistaken decisions will always lead to mistaken results— the whole world has already figured this out,” Ghalibaf wrote in a post on X on May 11.

“We are prepared for all options; they will be surprised,” he added.

Iran has reportedly submitted a fresh 14-point proposal to the US during the latest rounds of backchannel negotiations.

US President Donald Trump denied accepting the plan stating that he was dissatisfied with the proposal as the terms were “unacceptable”.

Tensions in West Asia continue as the US continues to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, and the Iranian military also maintain the ownership of the strategic oil passage.

The Iran-US-Israel has entered into a tenth week after it started on February 28 when US and Israel launched joint airstrikes on Iran. The strikes killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In retaliation, Iran launched strikes on the US bases located across the Gulf nations, spilling out the conflict in the wider West Asian region.
