Family and friends are mourning the death of Jessica Akersid Omoke, a 51-year-old registered nurse described by loved ones as compassionate, hardworking and deeply devoted to her family.
How Jessica Omoke died
Dr Lyna Nyamwaya disclosed that Jessica had been reported missing to the Crystal Police Department on Wednesday, May 13, after she was last seen in the 9300 block of Fernbrook in Maple Grove wearing dark navy blue nurse scrubs.

As relatives and members of the community searched desperately for her safe return, her family was also preparing to celebrate a major milestone: the graduation of her twin daughters, Rachel and Silvia, from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.
But as the sisters marked the end of years of study and sacrifice, devastating news emerged.
Authorities later confirmed that during a search of the area surrounding Jessica’s last known location, a deceased person had been found.

The body was transferred to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner for identification as investigations continued.
“The search has ceased,” police said in a statement while requesting privacy for the grieving family.
The tragic timing has left many struggling to comprehend the pain now facing the Omoke family.
A family friend and immigrant nurse leader who spoke publicly about Jessica said the contrast between celebration and sorrow was overwhelming.

“Their twin girls, Rachel and Silvia, graduated from nursing school. However, that’s the day their mum’s body was found after missing for two days. What a very bittersweet day for them,” she said.

She described Jessica as “a kind human, brilliant and hardworking nurse, doting mummy and wife, who gave her best in everything”.
According to the family, Jessica’s husband, James Omoke, remains devastated by the loss and is still trying to process the tragedy.
The pain has been compounded by another approaching family milestone. Meanwhile, the couple’s youngest daughter, Keziah, is expected to graduate from high school, a moment that will now happen without her mother by her side.
