Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, and his wife have been abducted by suspected bandits in Katsina State.
The couple were reportedly travelling to Katsina on Saturday when gunmen intercepted their Peugeot 406 in Matazu Local Government Area, opened fire, and abducted them. The driver survived despite suffering gunshot injuries.
Katsina State Police spokesperson Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the incident, saying security operatives have launched a search-and-rescue operation....... .
