IBADAN, OYO STATE – The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a student of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora (OYSCATECH), alongside an alleged yahoo boy, in connection with the sexual assault of a female student of the institution .
According to information, the victim was assaulted off-campus after accepting a lift from the OYSCATECH student. The suspect, described as a yahoo boy, allegedly perpetrated the act through the connivance of the student who provided the transportation .

Confirming the incident, the school management disclosed that the victim, accompanied by her mother, formally lodged a complaint with the institution. The matter was subsequently investigated .
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Opeyemi Olawore, clarified the role of the apprehended student: It was discovered that our student who was fingered in the matter did not perpetrate the act, but was considered an accomplice because he offered a lift to the victim since they reside in the same area . Both the perpetrator and the accomplice have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for interrogation.
In a statement, the institution advised students to exercise greater vigilance and eschew all forms of indiscipline that may expose them to the inhuman and gender-based violence ravaging the society.
Despite operating an off-campus accommodation policy for students, the school maintains regular engagement with the host community towards achieving harmonious relationships with our students . The institution further reiterated that it does not harbour indiscipline and has the right to punish any student that violates the institution’s rules and regulations.
