Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, bringing an end to his trophy-laden spell at the Etihad Stadium.
According to reports by the Daily Mail, the Spaniard is expected to step down after City’s final Premier League matches against Bournemouth and Aston Villa.
The development comes days after Guardiola guided City to a 1-0 FA Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley.
If confirmed, the FA Cup triumph could become the final trophy of Guardiola’s decade-long reign at Manchester City.
Manchester City still retain an outside chance of winning the Premier League title this season but must win their remaining matches and hope Arsenal drop points in their final fixtures.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager joined City in 2016 and transformed the club into one of Europe’s dominant sides.
Under Guardiola, City won six Premier League titles, including an unprecedented four consecutive league crowns.
He also delivered the club’s first UEFA Champions League title in 2023 after City defeated Inter Milan in the final.
His trophy haul at the club also includes three FA Cups, five League Cups and three Community Shields.
Reports further claimed that Manchester City had already begun informing key stakeholders ahead of an expected announcement on Sunday.
Guardiola’s exit is also expected to be marked with celebrations during an open-top bus parade in Manchester on Monday alongside the men’s, women’s and academy teams.
Former Leicester City and Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate to replace Guardiola.
Maresca previously worked as one of Guardiola’s assistants during Manchester City’s 2022-23 campaign before leaving for a managerial role.
With Guardiola’s expected departure, Manchester City would be saying goodbye to the most successful manager in the club’s history.
