JUST IN: Soldiers Arrest 50-Year-Old Woman Over Alleged Support to ISWAP Son in Borno

Nigerian troops operating under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a 50-year-old woman in Borno State for allegedly delivering food items and clothing materials to her son believed to be a fighter with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The suspect, identified as Kellu Alhaji Abba, was reportedly apprehended by troops of the 196 Amphibious Battalion during a military checkpoint operation in Kukawa Local Government Area of the state.

According to security sources, the woman was intercepted while allegedly transporting supplies meant for her son, identified as Modu Mustapha, who is said to be operating with ISWAP elements in the Dumba area near the Lake Chad axis.

Sources disclosed that the suspect, said to be from the Lawanti area of Baga town, was arrested around 8:00 a.m. during a routine security screening by soldiers monitoring movement within the insurgency-prone region.

Items reportedly recovered from her during the arrest included four ready-to-use supplementary food packs, two female hijabs allegedly intended for disguise purposes, and a wristwatch.

Military authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident, but security operatives confirmed that the woman is currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation as investigations continue.

The arrest comes amid intensified military operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents across the North-East region. Troops have continued raids, surveillance, and intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics networks and cutting off supplies to fighters hiding in remote communities around the Lake Chad basin.
