Troops of the Guards Brigade have detained 76 persons over alleged involvement in a suspected fraudulent networking scheme in Auta Balefi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Security sources said the troops responded at about 10:30 p.m. on May 2 following intelligence reports of an influx of unidentified persons into the area.

The sources disclosed that on arrival, troops discovered 76 individuals comprising 69 males and 7 females, who claimed to have travelled from various parts of the country, including Nasarawa, Yobe, Gombe, and Niger States, for what they described as “networking activities.”

According to the sources, the group was allegedly being coordinated by a leader from Plateau State, who claimed affiliation with two foreign business entities identified as “Ignite” from the United Kingdom and “Qnet” from Malaysia, said to be involved in health and wellness product marketing.

However, preliminary investigation by troops suggested that the gathering may be linked to a suspected scam operation designed to recruit and exploit unsuspecting individuals for financial gain.

The sources added that the suspects are currently in military custody for further investigation and profiling.Full Details. .
