Nigerian music star Timaya has joined growing calls for stronger action against kidnapping and insecurity across the country, expressing solidarity with families affected by the crisis.
In a heartfelt statement titled “Every Nigerian Deserves to Come Home Safe,” the singer said his thoughts are with Nigerians currently living through the fear, pain, and uncertainty caused by rising insecurity in different parts of the nation.
Timaya noted that music has always been a tool for reflecting the realities of society, including the struggles, hopes, victories, and dreams of ordinary people. He said he was lending his voice to families awaiting the safe return of loved ones and to communities devastated by abductions.
The singer stressed that no parent should have to worry about whether their child will return home safely and that no family should be forced to endure the agony of waiting for news about a kidnapped relative.
He appealed to the government to intensify efforts in tackling security challenges, calling for greater urgency, collaboration, and decisive action to protect citizens.
“The safety of citizens must remain a shared national priority,” Timaya stated, adding that every Nigerian deserves the freedom to live, work, travel, and pursue their dreams without fear.
He also offered prayers for those still in captivity and encouraged affected families to remain hopeful, assuring them that they are not alone in their struggle.
