According to Daily Post on 19th May, the spokesperson to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Sanusi Bature, has alleged that former Kano governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress vice presidential hopeful, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is secretly working to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.…....
Speaking during a television interview, Bature claimed Kwankwaso’s recent political moves showed inconsistency and confusion. He accused the former governor of engaging several political figures across the country in search of alliances despite previously taking strong positions on regional power rotation and political partnerships.
Bature also alleged that Kwankwaso attempted to build alliances with key opposition figures after earlier disagreements with them during the 2023 election cycle. According to him, the former presidential candidate shifted strategies several times in pursuit of political relevance ahead of the next general election.
The governor’s aide further claimed that Kwankwaso had at one point explored the possibility of aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress through discussions involving Governor Yusuf and President Tinubu. He said although the move did not materialize publicly, Kwankwaso’s actions would ultimately benefit Tinubu politically.
Bature maintained that Kwankwaso played a role that indirectly helped Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election and suggested the same pattern could repeat itself in 2027.
