“Kwankwaso Not Working For Tinubu” — Kwankwasiyya Fires Back, Accuses Gov Yusuf Of Secret APC Plot

Fresh political drama has erupted in Kano after the Kwankwasiyya Movement strongly denied claims that former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is secretly working for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections…WATCH VIDEO HERE

The movement also accused Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, of allegedly trying to force members of the political structure into joining the APC.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY POST, the National Coordinator of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habeeb Saleh Mohammed, dismissed comments earlier made by Kano Government spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, describing them as false and misleading.

According to him, Kwankwaso remains the biggest political force in Kano despite recent political realignments.

“In Kano today, my boss is still the centre of politics. Anywhere he goes, people troop out massively. The crowd speaks for itself,” Habeeb said.

He claimed the movement’s exit weakened other political parties in the state, insisting Kwankwaso still controls massive grassroots support across Kano.

The Kwankwasiyya spokesperson also reacted to claims that Kwankwaso refused to work with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2023 elections.

According to him, both politicians simply did not have enough time to fully understand each other politically before the election season intensified.

“At that time, both of them believed strongly in their abilities, but politics is about timing and understanding,” he explained.

Habeeb further revealed that leaders within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) eventually agreed to adopt Obi as the party’s presidential candidate for 2027 after consultations across the country.

He insisted that Kwankwaso remains committed to building alliances capable of challenging the ruling APC in the next general election.

Reacting to rumours linking Kwankwaso with Tinubu and the APC, Habeeb described the reports as deliberate propaganda.

“This is just a desperate attempt to smear his name. Kwankwaso is not working for Tinubu. If he is with you, he will openly say it. He doesn’t hide political decisions,” he stated.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement also accused Governor Yusuf of allegedly sponsoring crises within the former NNPP structure as part of efforts to move closer to the APC.

According to Habeeb, the governor allegedly pressured members of the movement to support a possible defection to the ruling party.

“He was trying to compel us by all means that we must move to the APC because of his own political interests,” he alleged.

However, he said Kwankwaso refused to impose any decision on members of the movement.

“My boss is very open-minded. He told everyone they were free to make their decisions, but as a movement, we act collectively,” he added.

The spokesperson also dismissed reports that Kwankwaso was negotiating appointments or political deals with the APC behind closed doors.

“The issue of appointments and secret negotiations is completely false. Kwankwaso never sent anybody to negotiate anything on his behalf,” he said.

Habeeb further accused the Kano State Government of sponsoring media attacks against Kwankwaso in a failed attempt to weaken his influence ahead of 2027.

“This narrative has already failed because Nigerians know who Kwankwaso is and what he stands for,” he added.

The latest development comes amid growing political tension in Kano and fresh coalition talks ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
