Lagos State University has won a ₦25 million cash prize from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board after emerging as the Second Runner-Up Institution at the National Tertiary Admissions’ Performance-Merit Award (NATAP-M Awards).
The award was presented on Monday, 11 May, 2026, during the 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting in Abuja, where LASU was recognised for its outstanding admissions performance in the 2025 admission year.
The university secured an aggregate score of three points across the five assessment criteria of the Mega Award in the sixth edition of the national performance ranking, thereby reinforcing its growing stature within Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
Consequently, the ₦25 million prize was presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, by JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, in recognition of the institution’s performance and admissions efficiency.
Notably, the latest honour comes on the heels of LASU’s emergence as Nigeria’s most preferred university for the 2026 admission exercise, with a record 84,326 candidates selecting the institution as their first-choice university in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
Reacting to the twin achievements, Olatunji-Bello described the recognition as a reflection of the university’s commitment to excellence, innovation, transparency, and student-centred administration.
According to her, the accomplishments underscore LASU’s sustained drive to strengthen academic standards while promoting a more inclusive and efficient learning environment.
