Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season, bringing an end to his four-year spell with the Spanish champions.
The 37-year-old striker announced his decision in a message shared on Instagram, despite reports earlier this year suggesting Barcelona were open to extending his contract on reduced terms.
Lewandowski will make his final home appearance for Barcelona against Real Betis at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday.
“The mission is complete”
In his farewell message, Lewandowski reflected on his time in Spain and thanked the club’s supporters and leadership.

“After four years full of challenges and hard work, it’s time to move on,” he said.
“I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships.”
He also praised Barcelona president Joan Laporta for bringing him to the club.
“A special thank you to president Joan Laporta for giving me the chance to live the most incredible chapter of my career,” Lewandowski added.
“Barça is back where it belongs.”
Successful spell in Spain
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 in a deal worth around €45 million.
Since arriving in Catalonia, the Poland captain has scored 119 goals in 191 appearances for the club.
He helped Barcelona win three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey during his time at the club.
Despite sharing attacking duties this season with Ferran Torres, Lewandowski still scored 18 goals as Barcelona secured another league title and domestic silverware.
Future still undecided
Reports indicate Lewandowski has attracted interest from clubs in Europe, Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer in the United States.
Chicago Fire are among the clubs linked with the veteran forward as he prepares for the next stage of his career.
