Machakos man seeks justice after man burns his beard: "Nilikuwa napaka dye"

A man from Machakos county is demanding justice after a painful incident left him injured and emotionally distressed.

John Kyalo Mutua broke down in tears as he narrated how his beard was allegedly set on fire by someone he claims to know well.

The devastated man said the incident left him in physical pain and altered his appearance after years of maintaining his beard.

“On that fateful night, I was at a friend’s place having a beer. After that, I left and went to an entertainment joint for a while. Then I went to a place just to relax and take a power nap so I could wake up feeling rejuvenated and go home,” he recounted.

Kyalo denied to see CCTV footage

While Kyalo was asleep, the suspect allegedly set his beard on fire, causing him to wake up in excruciating pain.

Kyalo claimed the suspect had repeatedly threatened to burn his beard, even in the presence of friends.

“He had been threatening me, saying that one day he would burn my beard, and he did. He has left me in physical pain and trauma. After the incident, I went to the police, and they told me to go to the hospital. They gave me painkillers, but I am still in great pain,” he said.

The victim also alleged that he was denied access to CCTV footage, despite believing the incident was captured on camera.

Kenyans react to Kyalo’s incident

He maintained that all he wants is justice, adding that he had invested heavily in maintaining his beard through dyeing, applying oils, and regular maintainance.

“There were witnesses. All I want is justice,” he cried, sparking mixed reactions online as social media users flocked to the comment section.
