Following Pep Guardiola’s departure, Manchester City has reportedly selected Enzo Maresca as its new head coach.
According to rumors, Maresca has agreed to a long-term contract and will immediately take charge of first-team activities ahead of the new season.
The Italian strategist previously served on Guardiola’s coaching staff during Manchester City’s historic treble-winning season and is thought to be a familiar figure inside the club’s ranks.
His return is seen as an attempt to retain continuity in philosophy and playing style following Guardiola’s successful tenure at the Etihad Stadium.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano also stated that conversations for the appointment had proceeded significantly.
If approved, Maresca would have to balance maintaining the club’s achievements during Guardiola’s tenure with developing his own personality.
