Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has removed the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him in a compromising position with a female student .
The GES announced Mr. Aidoo’s interdiction on September 29, 2025, barring him from the school premises pending a thorough investigation . The Service emphasized its commitment to “upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools” and condemned any acts compromising student safety . The matter has escalated beyond administrative discipline. Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, confirmed the ministry is collaborating with the Ghana Police Service to secure Mr. Aidoo’s arrest . “The recent one is the report of the female student at KNUST with the assistant headmaster. Even though GES through the school dismissed him, we are collaborating with the police to effect the arrest of the perpetrator,” Dr. Lartey stated .
The scandal has drawn sharp criticism from child rights advocates and education experts. Africa Education Watch (Eduwatch) condemned the act and urged the National Teaching Council to permanently revoke Mr. Aidoo’s teaching license if found culpable .
