Afrobeats star Portable has turned a tough night into a moment of joy, welcoming a baby boy with his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, just hours after losing a celebrity boxing match in Lagos.
The singer took to Instagram on Saturday to announce the birth, shortly after being defeated by skit maker Carter Efe at the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event held at Balmoral Hall.
Despite the loss, Portable made it clear where his priorities lie. “My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt, but not my child,” he wrote.
Still, the Zazoo crooner didn’t hide his disappointment, alleging the fight’s outcome was unfair. “You people ch£ated. I thought I was going to dance with my belt, but I ended up with my new baby,” he said, adding that no prize could compare to his newborn.
Omobewaji also confirmed the good news, sharing a simple “Alhamdulillah” while revealing the baby’s name as Jamal Iremide, and describing him as her “little blessing.”
Portable noted the dramatic timing of it all, saying his wife was in labour while he was in the ring. “She gave birth to a boy. I wanted a third belt for my children; I already have two. You can have the belt,” .Full Details. .
