The National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally on Tuesday delivered direct economic support to women across Nigeria through the distribution of empowerment items at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The programme, attended by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, focused primarily on equipping women with tools to improve their livelihoods, as beneficiaries received items including tricycles, power tillers, sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers and freezers.
The distribution formed a key highlight of the rally, reinforcing ongoing efforts to deepen women’s participation in economic activities and strengthen household income across communities.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady said empowering women with the right resources will have a direct impact on national growth. She noted that women represent over 50 percent of Nigeria’s population and remain critical to driving sustainable development.
“When Nigerian women rise, Nigeria rises,” she said.
She added that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which promotes inclusion and increased participation of women in governance and economic development.
Also speaking, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described the rally as a unifying platform designed to scale women-focused empowerment nationwide. She highlighted the “Power of 10 Million Women” initiative as a coordinated effort to strengthen women’s influence in governance and development.
Beyond the distribution, the event featured the presentation of the Women’s Charter for National Development, which outlines priorities around political inclusion, economic opportunities, and improved welfare for women and children. The First Lady received the charter on behalf of the President and assured participants it would be formally presented.
She also urged women to remain committed to raising responsible children and sustaining strong family values, noting that strong homes remain the foundation for national progress.
The rally underscores a broader push to combine policy direction with tangible support, placing tools directly in the hands of women to drive productivity, income generation, and long-term economic inclusion.
