Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday dismantled multiple drug joints and bunks across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), arrested 132 suspects and recovered 220 kilogrammes of assorted illicit substances in a sustained two-week offensive.
According to the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the sweeping crackdown, carried out between April 11 and 25, 2026, targeted notorious drug hotspots within and around the FCT.
The coordinated operation was executed by the agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) alongside the FCT Strategic Command, following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
He listed areas raided to include Torabora Hills; Area 3; Gwarinpa; AYA; Durumi; Banex; Dei-Dei; Kubwa; Apo; Kwali; Gwagwalada; Wuse Zone 4; Garki Area 10; Jabi, and the Suleja axis.
“These locations had been identified as active hubs fueling drug trafficking, abuse, and related criminal activities in the nation’s capital.
Substances recovered during the raids include 214.79kg of skunk (a potent strain of cannabis), 5.524kg of Diazepam, 2.352kg of Exol, 1.119kg of Tramadol, as well as smaller quantities of Mogadon, cocaine, Rohypnol, methamphetamine, and ecstasy. Six bottles of codeine syrup were also seized.”
NDLEA operatives reportedly encountered stiff resistance in parts of Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market axis.
However, the agency said its officers demonstrated superior tactical capability and professionalism, successfully subduing the suspects and dismantling their networks without recording any casualties.
Briefing the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa, on the outcome of the operation, the Director of Operations and General Investigation, DCGN Ahmed Sule Ningi, commended the personnel involved for their resilience and coordination.
He stressed the importance of sustaining the momentum to consolidate the gains recorded.
In his remarks, Marwa praised the officers and men of DOGI, the FCT Strategic Command, and other participating units for their commitment to sanitising the capital.
He directed that the operational strategy be replicated in other high-risk urban centres nationwide as part of efforts to intensify the crackdown on drug cartels and curb both supply and demand.
