NELFUND Denies Viral Claims of Stopped Student Allowance Payments

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has dismissed widespread social media reports claiming that student upkeep allowance payments have been suspended, describing the information as false and deliberately misleading

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has firmly rejected claims circulating on social media suggesting that the Federal Government has put a stop to upkeep allowance payments for student loan beneficiaries, describing the reports as entirely false and misleading.

In a statement by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND characterized the publications as fabricated content deliberately designed to stir panic, confusion, and distrust among students and the wider public.

The agency was emphatic that no directive suspending upkeep allowance payments has been issued by either the Federal Government or NELFUND itself.

The Fund also addressed a viral newspaper cover being widely shared online, clarifying that it is not a genuine publication of the Nigerian Tribune and urging the public to exercise caution and avoid spreading or acting on unverified information.
