Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was reportedly involved in a heated altercation during the EuroLeague Basketball final in Athens on Sunday, with videos circulating online showing him arguing in the stands while security officials intervened.
Marinakis, who also owns Olympiacos B.C., attended the final where the Greek side defeated Real Madrid Baloncesto 92-85 to win the title.
As reported by BBC Sport on Monday, footage shared on social media appeared to show the 58-year-old in a confrontation with another individual while separated by barriers and security personnel.
The video also appeared to show Marinakis wearing a ripped shirt during the incident.
The identity of the other individual involved in the confrontation was not clearly visible in the footage.
However, Greek media reports later identified the person as Grigoris Dimitriadis, a former adviser to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, although there has been no official confirmation of the claim.
BBC Sport reported that Nottingham Forest had been approached for comment over the incident.
The altercation came on the same day Nottingham Forest concluded their Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against AFC Bournemouth.
Forest ended the 2025/26 season in 16th position, a sharp decline from the previous campaign when the club finished seventh and secured significantly higher Premier League earnings.
Marinakis has previously faced disciplinary issues during his ownership of the English club.
In 2024, he received a five-match stadium ban after being found guilty of improper conduct following Forest’s defeat to Fulham FC.
Later that year, Nottingham Forest were fined £750,000 after a social media post questioned the integrity of VAR official Stuart Attwell following a match against Everton FC, with the Football Association describing the post as “ill-chosen and irresponsible.”
