The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) has commissioned the state-of-the-art 100-bed Renewed Hope Specialist Hospital, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s healthcare landscape.

In her opening remarks in Kaduna State, Zaria on May 2nd 2026, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs) Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire underscored the commitment of the current administration to providing quality healthcare services to the nation’s most vulnerable populations.

“This hospital represents a vital step in Nigeria’s journey toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being for all,” Orelope-Adefulire stated.

This facility, the second of its kind in Kaduna State, aims to reduce mortality rates and enhance equitable access to essential healthcare services across the nation. The facility has been officially handed over to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) to complement the efforts of the Ministry of Health.

The Renewed Hope Specialist Hospital is purpose-built and fully equipped with modern amenities, including advanced operating theatres, recovery rooms, consultation areas, a laboratory, ultrasound machines, and emergency care equipment.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire emphasized that “healthcare is not a luxury, rather a necessity,” asserting that every mother deserves a safe delivery and every child a healthy start to life.

“A healthy nation is a wealthy nation,” she added, highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare for all community members.

In her address, Princess Orelope-Adefulire called for intensified efforts to promote routine antenatal and postnatal care, strengthen skilled birth attendance, and ensure full immunization coverage to safeguard against childhood diseases. She urged state governments and community leaders to utilize this facility sustainably, stating, “Let this hospital stand as a beacon of hope and a testament to our collective dedication to building a healthier and more prosperous society.”

Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sanni, expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the SSAP-SDGs for their roles in establishing the hospital.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that healthcare remains a consistent, affordable, and reliable right for all citizens.

“It is a response to real needs,” said Rt Honourable Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives, noting that residents will no longer have to travel great distances for treatment.

The Federal Government’s intervention has already improved community access to healthcare services and will significantly reduce patient referrals.

The Minister of Health, Prof. Ahmed Ali Pate, termed the new hospital a “lifeline and beacon of hope” for the people of Kaduna State.

Represented by Chief Medical Director of ABUTH, Prof. Hamidu Ahmed, he assured that the facility would be professionally managed to benefit the community profoundly.

Local leaders, including Zaria Local Government Chairman, Hon. Jemil Ahmed; and Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Mallam Mohammed Nuhu; also expressed their appreciation for the new facility, pledging to utilize its resources for the betterment of the community and improving healthcare access.

The commissioning of the 100-bed Renewed Hope Specialist Hospital was a monumental occasion attended by numerous dignitaries, solidifying the commitment to advancing healthcare in Nigeria.
