Osun APC warns defeated House of Reps aspirants against anti-party remarks

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Tajudeen Lawal, has cautioned aspirants who lost out in the party’s House of Representatives primaries against making statements that could undermine the party or its leadership.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Osogbo, the state capital, Lawal warned that comments capable of disparaging the party following electoral losses were unacceptable and went against the principle of party supremacy.

He noted that some remarks made by party members before and during the primaries made it necessary to remind stakeholders to remain disciplined and united, regardless of outcomes.

The APC chairman also urged candidates and their social media handlers to avoid posting or circulating messages that could fuel internal conflict, division, or tension within the party.

According to him, it would not serve the interest of any member to attack the party or its leaders simply because of disappointment at the polls.

Lawal appealed for self-restraint and reflection, urging aggrieved aspirants to focus on strengthening the party ahead of future elections, particularly the governorship contest.

He also congratulated participants in the primaries and commended those who accepted the outcomes in good faith, describing their conduct as a display of sportsmanship.

He added that elections are contests where winners must emerge, noting that success does not necessarily define superiority, but rather reflects the outcome of competition at a given time.

Lawal further appreciated party leaders, executives, and supporters for their commitment, sacrifices, and efforts toward ensuring the smooth conduct of the primaries across Osun State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the official results of the primaries were yet to be released at the time of filing this report.
