Outrage as Bandits Kpa! Teacher After Collecting Ransom

A Federal Government College, Anka teacher identified as Mustapha Yahaya Maru has been reportedly killed by armed bandits in Zamfara State, despite his family allegedly paying ransom for his release.

According to reports, Maru was abducted in May while travelling to Anka alongside other passengers when armed attackers intercepted their vehicle and took them hostage.

The kidnappers later contacted his family and demanded a ransom amount described as beyond their financial capacity. After prolonged efforts and negotiations, the family reportedly managed to raise and pay the ransom in hopes of securing his freedom.

However, the situation took a tragic turn as the bandits allegedly killed him on Tuesday even after receiving the payment, instead of releasing him as expected.

The incident has thrown the Maru community and the entire school environment into mourning, with residents expressing renewed fear over the worsening insecurity and recurring cases of kidnapping across parts of northern Nigeria.

Security concerns in Zamfara and surrounding regions have continued to escalate, with residents repeatedly calling for stronger intervention from authorities to curb bandit activities and protect civilians.
