The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has issued a strong message to President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, suggesting that the president may lose his re-election bid.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja shortly after emerging as the ADC presidential flag bearer, Atiku urged Tinubu to prepare to leave office and return to Lagos, his political base.
He said: “President Tinubu should better pack and go back to Lagos.”
Atiku also used the opportunity to congratulate other aspirants who contested in the party’s primary election, describing the process as competitive and driven by a shared desire for national improvement.
“I congratulate my fellow contestants for this ticket to represent our great party in the elections scheduled for early next year. I know that you are driven by your patriotism and commitment to a better Nigeria and improved life for our people,” he added.
In the primary election, Atiku defeated rivals Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, polling 1,846 votes to secure the party’s ticket.
