The missing student has been identified as Hilda Kendi, a Form Three student at Goibei Girls High School.
According to family sources, the teenager had reportedly been suspended from school for five days over an alleged indiscipline case. Her class teacher is said to have contacted her mother and informed her that the student would be returning home.
Trouble reportedly began after Hilda arrived home and was questioned by her mother over the suspension. Moments later, she allegedly left the house without informing anyone where she was heading.
The family later discovered a disturbing note addressed to her mother. In the message, the student allegedly indicated that her body would be found in a bush after her death, leaving relatives deeply worried about her safety.
Since her disappearance, the family has been searching for her without success and says they are going through emotional distress as they remain unaware of her whereabouts.
A missing person report has since been filed at Mbale Police Station, with police launching investigations and search efforts.
The family is now appealing to members of the public with any information concerning the student’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
