The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State has concluded its screening exercise for aspirants seeking to contest in the forthcoming National Assembly and State House of Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, held at the PDP State Secretariat, Bisalla Road, was conducted under the supervision of the National Assembly and State House of Assembly Screening Committee chaired by Hon. Ambrose Edeh.
Other members of the committee included Princess Ekene Ozobu, Hon. Sunday Udeh, Hon. Chinedu Nnadi, and Barr. Chukwuebuka Ani. The committee described the process as transparent, orderly, and in line with the party’s guidelines.
Senatorial District Clearances
In the senatorial category, three aspirants were cleared to contest the party primaries:
Dennis Amadi — Enugu West Senatorial District
Kingsley Chizoba Nweke — Enugu East Senatorial District
Nestor Ezeme — Enugu North Senatorial District
The committee said Amadi met all requirements and demonstrated strong legislative experience, while Nweke and Ezeme were also found qualified, with Ezeme highlighting plans focused on agro-industrial development and infrastructure growth in Nsukka and surrounding areas.
However, the committee disqualified one aspirant in the senatorial category:
Nicholas Ozonsi — Enugu West Senatorial District
He was disqualified for failing to provide proof of payment of party dues and for remaining in active employment with the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, which violated screening guidelines.
House of Representatives Clearances
A total of 11 aspirants were cleared for the House of Representatives primaries, including:
Promise Chukwu, Ebiem Patrick Chukwuma, Ani Samuel Chigbo, Amarachineke Kingsley Ezechukwu, Kevin Ifegbuike, Alphonsus Chijioke Okoro, Cosmas Agbo, Johnson Ikechukwu Ogbu, Daniel Chukwunonso Ogbe, David Obiora Ugwu, and Gideon Arinze Orjinta.
State Assembly Clearances
In the State House of Assembly category, all 25 aspirants screened across various constituencies were cleared. They include:
Emmanuel Ogbozor, Onyedika Maduka, Chukwudi Orjiadachie, Nonso Ochi, Chika Ambrose Ottah, Ugochukwu Nwozor, Nebo Ebube, Philip Nnamani, Barry Ani, Chiene Chiene, Chidiebere Ugwuosor, and Francis Onu among others.
Others include Misharck Chinedu Igurube, Francis Aniede, Chukwuebuka Ede, Jude Eze, Hyginus Abugu, Christopher Idoko, Obiora Ugwuoke, Ndubuisi Asogwa, Paul Iyeke, Ifunanya Attah, Nwabueze Okechukwu, Ernest Okechukwu Agbaji, and Anthony Chukwuebuka Okenwa.
The screening committee expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, commending aspirants for their discipline and cooperation. It also urged those who were not cleared to remain supportive of the party’s collective goals.

The PDP in Enugu State said the exercise reflects its commitment to internal democracy and credible candidate selection ahead of the 2027 elections.
