The Edo State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers in Jattu, Edo North, following intelligence-led operations linked to a recent abduction case in the area.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, said in a statement on Tuesday that the arrest followed credible information and coordinated action by police operatives and the Edo State Security Corps.
According to the statement, “The Edo State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has recorded another breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the State.”
It explained that one of the suspects was earlier sighted on May 13, 2026, at Jattu Market, shortly after the release of a kidnap victim, identified as Ibrahim Jemila.
“On the 15th May, 2026, at about 1750hrs, the Divisional Police Officer, Jattu Division, received credible information that one of the suspected kidnapper of one Ibrahim Jemila ‘f’, who was abducted and later released on 13th May, 2026, had been sighted at Jattu Market,” the statement added.
Acting on the intelligence, police operatives mobilised alongside members of the Edo State Security Corps to the location, where three suspects were arrested: Nura Dahiru (22), Ibrahim Yakubu (25), and Abubakar Inusa (23).
The police said preliminary investigation led to the identification of two of the suspects as members of the gang responsible for the abduction of Jemila and another victim.
The Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, urging residents to continue providing timely intelligence to security agencies through its emergency and complaint channels.
The arrest comes amid ongoing operations by the command targeting kidnapping networks and other criminal groups operating within Edo State.
