Registrar of Companies to dissolve 318 companies from register

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has started the process of removing 318 companies from Ghana’s Companies Register as part of efforts to improve corporate compliance and maintain accurate business records.

In a statement issued on May 19, 2026, the ORC said it is carrying out the exercise under Section 289(3) of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992).

The Registrar explained that the names of the affected companies appeared in Volume 40 of the ORC Companies Bulletin published on May 15, 2026.

The companies now have three months to provide reasons why they should remain on the register. If they fail to do so, the ORC will officially strike them off and dissolve them.

According to the Office, the exercise forms part of ongoing measures to strengthen regulatory enforcement and ensure that Ghana’s Companies Register remains accurate, credible, and reliable.

The ORC also reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing corporate regulations and promoting better governance, accountability, and transparency within the business sector.

The latest move sends a clear signal to companies that ignore their statutory filing responsibilities, as authorities continue efforts to clean up the corporate environment and enforce compliance with the law.
