Nigeria’s Former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has raised concerns over alleged irregularities during the APC governorship primaries in Oyo State after reportedly losing the contest.
Adelabu accused party officials of manipulating the exercise, claiming results were allegedly written even before voting commenced in some wards.
Speaking on the controversy, he said:
“In some wards they already wrote the result before election started. Even places where election did not hold, they announced result. We cannot build democracy like this.”
His remarks have since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians mocking the minister while others argued that he was now experiencing the same political system his party allegedly promotes.
Reacting to the development, X user @zumatiscoted wrote:
“Bro spent his whole term giving us blackouts and now he’s mad the party gave him a total blackout.”
Another user, @kvng_lheo, sarcastically advised:
“Mr Adelabu open the book of lamentations and read quickly you have just having a taste of the medicine your party distributes.”
Some critics also accused him of remaining silent on alleged democratic issues while serving under the APC-led administration.
“All of a sudden the colossal failure of a man cares about democracy, meanwhile, he’s been quiet about it while serving under the man who’s the most anti democratic president the nation has seen,” @naijawhichwayna commented.
Others questioned why the minister was complaining publicly about internal party affairs.
“Who u dy complain give? Na party affairs,” @LatoMaan wrote.
Another user mocked the minister’s performance in office, referring to him as:
“Minister of darkness Bayo adelabubu,” @chis0mig posted.
Some commenters, however, suggested he seek legal redress if he truly believed the process was manipulated.
“Go to court,” @shyna4me advised.
