The emphatic win ensured Nigeria successfully defended the trophy in style, replicating last season’s triumph and further cementing their status as the most successful side in the competition’s history with a fourth title since inception.
Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf emerged the standout performer of the night, scoring twice to register his first goals in 10 appearances for the national team, while captain Terem Moffi also got on the scoresheet in a dominant display that left the Caribbean side chasing shadows.
Nigeria wasted no time asserting authority, racing into the lead in the third minute after Yusuf pounced on a defensive lapse from the Jamaican backline. The midfielder capitalised on confusion between defender and goalkeeper, slotting home after the initial effort was parried back into danger.
Despite Jamaica—who are preparing for World Cup duties—attempting to stabilise their play, they struggled to contain Nigeria’s pace and pressing, with the African side controlling possession and dictating the tempo for most of the encounter.
The breakthrough that effectively sealed the contest arrived in the 58th minute when skipper Moffi rose highest to head home a precise cross from Femi Azeez, doubling Nigeria’s advantage and silencing any hopes of a Jamaican comeback.
Yusuf then put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time with a fine solo effort, capping a man-of-the-match performance and highlighting the growing depth in Nigeria’s squad options ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
The victory also extended Nigeria’s impressive run against Jamaica, with the Super Eagles now unbeaten in six meetings, including three wins in regulation time.
