Taraba 2027: Kente withdraws from APC governorship primary

Chief David Sabo Kente has officially stepped down from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Taraba State.

The prominent aspirant and former member of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) board announced his decision during a press briefing in Jalingo.

His announcement comes less than 24 hours before the primary election commenced.

Kente clarified that his decision was made to ensure political stability within the state chapter, citing intense pleas from various party stakeholders, including the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yiltwada.

He firmly denied rumors that he was financially induced to step aside, asserting that no one has the capacity to buy him over.

According to him, “I also want to make it clear that I was not paid to step aside. In fact no one has the capacity to buy me over.

“As a party member, I remain deeply loyal to the APC.

“I had to yield to the various appeals from leaders of thought and stakeholders who believe this is the best path forward for our party’s success.”

When asked about his next steps, Kente noted that he would communicate his future political direction to his supporters in the coming days.

He reiterated his continuous support for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and urged his followers to remain committed to the party as the general election cycle intensifies.
