According to a report by Punch News on Sunday, May 17, 2026, Shukurat Pius, whose five-year-old son, Stephen, was among those kidnapped by terrorists who invaded three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area, has recounted her ordeal, saying that some of the children kidnapped were out on motorcycles, and the rest of the kidnapped children were marched into the forest.…....
Shukurat Pius revealed that residents first noticed suspicious motorcycle movements before gunshots erupted near the school. Some schoolchildren managed to escape through the windows, but the younger ones who couldn’t run were seized.
She added that some children were put on motorcycles while the rest were marched into the forest on foot. She said she wanted her child back alive and appealed to the government to help bring them home.
