The authorities in Fujairah confirmed that the blaze was triggered by a drone attack. Emergency teams from Fujairah Civil Defence were deployed swiftly and continued efforts to contain the fire.
The three injured Indians suffered moderate injuries in the incident. They were subsequently taken to hospital for medical treatment, as per a report by The Khaleej Times.
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi confirmed the injuries in a social media update, stating that it is coordinating with local authorities to ensure proper medical care and welfare of the affected nationals.
India condemns the attacks
Responding to the incident, India strongly condemned the attack. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the attack on Fujairah that resulted in injury to three Indian nationals is “unacceptable”.
“We call for immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians. India continues to stand for dialogue and diplomacy to deal with the situation, so that peace and stability may be restored across West Asia,” the MEA said in a statement.
“We also call for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz in keeping with international law. India stands ready to support all efforts for a peaceful resolution of issues,” it added.
PM Modi says targeting civilians is ‘unacceptable’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also issued a statement “strongly condemning” the attacks. “Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable,” he said on X (formerly Twitter).
“India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy,” he added.
“Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for enduring regional peace, stability and global energy security,” PM Modi wrote.
Missile activity and advisories
The UAE Ministry of Defence stated that Iran had launched four missiles towards different parts of the country.
“Three were successfully engaged over the country’s territorial waters, while one fell into the sea,” it said in a post on X.
The ministry also urged residents to follow all public safety instructions issued during such situations.
Authorities have cautioned against the spread of misinformation, advising the public to rely only on verified and official sources for updates.
