President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday departed Abuja for a two-week diplomatic tour covering France, Kenya and Rwanda, as part of efforts to deepen economic cooperation and attract investment into Nigeria.
The presidential aircraft took off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 2 p.m., with senior government officials present to see him off.
Tinubu is expected to begin the trip in France before proceeding to Kenya, where he will participate in the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May 11–12. The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action and reforms in global financing.
The President will thereafter travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum slated for May 14–15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is expected to convene over 2,000 business leaders, investors and policymakers to explore strategies for accelerating Africa’s economic growth through regional integration and cross-border investments.
Beyond the multilateral engagements, Tinubu is also scheduled to hold high-level meetings with global and African business leaders aimed at positioning Nigeria as a preferred investment destination. He is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the tour.
