Tinubu Sees Massive Irrigation, Power Potential in Sokoto-Badagry Corridor

President Bola Tinubu has highlighted the vast economic potential of the proposed Sokoto-Badagry corridor, noting that the route could support the development of numerous dams for irrigation, agriculture, and electricity generation.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum at his Lagos residence on Saturday, Tinubu said the corridor presents significant opportunities for national development and food security.

The President also commended Nigerians and political stakeholders who have continued to support his administration and encourage public confidence in the government.

“You have built that trust around one person: my leadership. I thank you very much. I am truly grateful,” Tinubu said, expressing appreciation to supporters and attributing the administration’s progress to divine grace.

Reflecting on the economic situation inherited by his government, the President said many state governments previously relied heavily on federal interventions and struggled to meet basic obligations such as salary payments.

“I am glad that out of the 27 governors borrowing from the federal government and asking for interventions, we are no longer struggling to pay salaries. No more,” he stated.

Tinubu said his administration remains focused on developmental programmes aimed at improving economic stability, boosting infrastructure, and enhancing the welfare of Nigerians.
