Tinubu Urges Prayers For Bandits, Terrorists To Repent, Says Nigeria Not Abandoned

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to pray for bandits and terrorists to abandon violence and embrace peace, insisting that the country will ultimately overcome all security challenges.

Tinubu made the appeal in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, where he also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic reforms, national security, and inclusive development.

The President said the sacred festival of sacrifice should remind Nigerians of the virtues of faith, obedience, selflessness and compassion as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the enduring virtues of faith, obedience, and the willingness to sacrifice for a higher purpose,” Tinubu said, urging citizens to deepen unity and show compassion to one another irrespective of religion or ethnicity.

He said Nigeria was undergoing a difficult but necessary phase of national renewal, noting that ongoing economic reforms were beginning to yield positive results.

According to him, the administration’s policy measures have contributed to greater economic stability and improved investor confidence, adding that the country was “on a path of recovery”.

“The sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination,” he said.

Tinubu acknowledged persistent security concerns across parts of the country, despite what he described as the efforts of security and intelligence agencies, including recent counter-terrorism operations.

He, however, assured Nigerians that his government remained fully committed to defeating insecurity.

“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” the President stated.

The President urged Muslims to use the Eid celebration to pray for peace, national unity and wisdom for leaders, while encouraging acts of charity towards the less privileged.

He also called on criminals to repent and abandon violence, warning that those who refuse to change would face the full weight of the law.

“Let us pray that those who commit crimes among us may rethink and abandon their evil ways, or face the full weight of the law,” he said.

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s pledge to invest in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development, saying the goal was to build a Nigeria where citizens can live in peace and pursue their aspirations without fear.

He concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration, praying that Allah accepts their sacrifices and prayers.

“Eid Mubarak! Happy Sallah!” he added.
