Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), has questioned the preparedness of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for national leadership, saying the Nigerian leader had limited governance experience before assuming office in 2023.…....
Baba-Ahmed made the remarks during an interview on SYMFONI TV while assessing the performance of the current administration and the challenges confronting the country. The former presidential aide argued that Tinubu’s years outside executive office may have affected his readiness for the complex responsibilities of managing the nation.
According to him, although Tinubu served as governor of Lagos State for eight years, much of his political activity afterward revolved around political negotiations and influence-building rather than direct governance.
“President Tinubu was governor for 8 years. Then he went into political wilderness. He was out there as a political fixer but the truth is that very little had prepared him for governance beyond the 8 years,” Baba-Ahmed said during the interview.
The PRP chairman stated that governing Nigeria requires broader administrative experience and a deeper understanding of the country’s evolving economic and security realities. He added that many Nigerians expected stronger leadership and clearer policy direction from the administration amid rising inflation, insecurity and economic hardship.
