Tractor Collision On N11 Leaves Three Prisoners, Officer Critically Injured

A horrific accident on the N11 near Groblersdal today, Friday has left three prisoners and a police officer in critical condition after the state vehicle they were travelling in collided with a tractor.

The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety confirmed that the police van was transporting inmates to Middelburg when the crash occurred next to Roslyn Farm. Preliminary reports indicate the tractor was crossing the highway at the time of the collision.

All four injured were rushed to Groblersdal Hospital, where they are receiving urgent medical care.

“The department appreciates all stakeholders who provided assistance at the scene and wishes all those injured a speedy recovery,” said spokesperson briefed on the incident.

This latest crash highlights ongoing safety concerns on the N11, a route known for heavy agricultural vehicle crossings and mixed traffic. The department reiterated its call for motorists to remain vigilant and obey road rules.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the tractor driver was injured or if any criminal charges will follow. An investigation into the exact cause is underway.
