Residents of a community in Delta State were left in shock and confusion after a lady was reportedly apprehended in the early hours of the morning while attempting to abduct a 4-year-old child. The incident has sparked renewed concern among locals over rising cases of child theft and general insecurity in the area.

According to eyewitness reports, the suspect was intercepted by members of a local vigilante group who were on night patrol. She was said to have been acting suspiciously while moving with the child around midnight, allegedly trying to exit the community unnoticed. Her behavior reportedly raised alarm, leading to a swift pursuit that resulted in her arrest.
Community sources claimed that the lady had already gained access to the child before she was discovered. She was allegedly attempting to move the child to a nearby community, with plans to continue her movement later.
Her actions were eventually halted when vigilante members became suspicious and began tracking her movements. She was later confronted and taken into custody, while the child was safely rescued without any harm and returned to safety.
Residents who gathered at the scene described the incident as disturbing and emotional, expressing disbelief that such an attempt could be made within their community.
During questioning by the vigilante group and some community members, the lady allegedly confessed that she intended to sell the child, claiming she was driven by financial hardship and a desire to raise money to start a business.
