WAEC Committee Passes Vote of Confidence in Dangut’s Leadership Amid Union Engagements

The Administrative and Finance Committee of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has expressed strong support for the leadership of its Nigeria National Office, led by Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut.

The endorsement was given at the Committee’s 240th meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where members reviewed ongoing operations, administrative performance, and financial management of the Council.

According to a statement issued by WAEC’s Public Affairs Department and signed by Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola F. Adesina, the Committee unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the management team, citing effective leadership, operational efficiency, and institutional discipline.

The Committee noted that despite ongoing engagements with staff unions over workplace concerns, the conduct of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates had remained stable and uninterrupted across Nigeria.

As WAEC’s highest advisory body on administrative and financial matters in Nigeria, the Committee commended the leadership for maintaining professionalism and ensuring smooth examination processes amid industrial relations discussions.

It further observed that the Council’s management approach reflects strategic focus and a commitment to WAEC’s core values, especially in sustaining examination integrity and institutional stability.

The Committee also warned against any actions capable of undermining WAEC’s reputation or operational credibility, urging all stakeholders to support ongoing reforms and engagement processes.

In response, WAEC management reassured candidates, parents, education authorities, and other stakeholders that nationwide operations remain on track, with continued emphasis on transparency, staff welfare, and a peaceful working environment.

It reaffirmed its commitment to delivering credible examinations while maintaining constructive dialogue with staff unions.
