Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has revealed that her once-close relationship with fellow screen icon Genevieve Nnaji gradually drifted apart over time due to an unexplained gap and possible “mistrust” from Genevieve’s side.
The 54-year-old actress made the disclosure during an appearance on the “Tea With Tay” podcast.
During her appearance, Henshaw reflected on their friendship and how communication between them slowly diminished.
She explained that they used to be very close and regularly attended public events together before an unexpected distance grew between them.
“We grew apart. We were close and we used to go to events together and then there was that gap…I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what came over her but hey, I moved on,” she said.
Reflecting on the experience, Henshaw said relationships often evolve with time, noting that people come into one’s life for different reasons and seasons.
“I say this with hindsight: People are in your life for different reasons and seasons,” she said.
“Some are roots, some are branches, some are leafs. That’s how it is through life. Roots would always be roots.”
This is not the first time Henshaw has spoken publicly about her relationship with Nnaji.
In 2023, the actress admitted that although they had experienced issues in their friendship, they were never serious conflicts.
“Genevieve, we have had our issues but not big issues you know,” Henshaw said.
“I have loved her. You know sometimes she pulls away. She pulls away from everybody and you’re like, ‘Am I smelling?’”
