“We’ve normalised choosing sides” – Ayo Makun speaks on accountability and emotional neglect

Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has spoken on emotional neglect and accountability.

On his Twitter page, he said society has normalised choosing sides so much that they’re no longer asked what truly went wrong.

He said emotional neglect is painful and also a form of betrayal. However, one’s hurt shouldn’t automatically justify another’s.

The comedian opined that relationships would survive better if accountability were shared rather than outsourced.

“We have normalised choosing sides so much that we no longer ask what truly went wrong.

Emotional neglect is painful. Betrayal is painful, too.

One hurt should not automatically become justification for another.

Maybe relationships would survive more if accountability were shared instead of outsourced”.

He issued a warning to the public against fake friends, advising them to beware of anyone who claims to be a friend yet rushes to capitalise on any negative news about them and tries to monetise it.

AY had sent a message to his colleagues, advising them to handle their business properly. He stated that every time we lash out our frustrations on others who are clueless about our true situations, it shows how weak we are.

Makun also shared a deep message on the detriment of social media, noting how a foolish person gets praised when he says something the audience likes, but a wise man gets persecuted when he says something contrary. Speaking on the funny part of social media, he stated that people carry their ignorance with a lot of class and confidence.

The divorcee also shared a deep message on the importance of peace, which he stated can only be achieved through coexistence. He revealed that he had learned how to quit contractions and admonished the public to set high standards for life.
