At least 18 people have been killed after suspected Fulani terrorists launched fresh attacks on Kawel and Kopkon communities in Mushere District of Bokkos LGA, Plateau State.
Security sources said the attackers stormed the villages in the early hours of June 20, opening fire on residents before fleeing the scene.
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace who responded to the attack later recovered 12 bodies in Kawel and six in Kopkon, bringing the death toll to 18.
The attackers reportedly escaped before security forces arrived.
The latest killings add to the wave of deadly attacks that have continued to devastate communities across Plateau State despite ongoing security operations and increased security deployments.
