As the July 10 deadline for voter registration draws closer, the Youth Wing of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Rivers State chapter, and top party officials are calling on youths and supporters of the party to ensure massive registration to enable them to participate in the 2027 general elections.
The call was made at the first Youth Congress Meeting of the party held in Port Harcourt.
At the top of the agenda was the need to mobilise eligible voters ahead of the 2027 general elections through increased participation in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Party officials took turns to charge youth leaders from the 23 L.G.As on the importance of sensitising eligible voters within their communities and encouraging supporters of the party to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards.
The party’s Non-Indigenes Coordinator, Prosper Olleanya, also emphasised the need for eligible voters to take advantage of the ongoing registration exercise.
On his part, the State Youth Leader of the party, Tonwe Nelson, disclosed plans for a 500,000-man voter sensitisation march scheduled for next week, saying the initiative will encourage more youths and eligible voters to register and participate actively in the electoral process.

Speaking earlier with Channels Television, the Governorship Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Rivers State, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, who disclosed that he has been confirmed as the party’s governorship flagbearer and is awaiting his Certificate of Return, urged Nigerians to take the voter registration exercise seriously.
According to him, voter registration remains the most powerful democratic tool available to citizens seeking meaningful change in governance.
With the voter registration deadline fast approaching, leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress say they will continue grassroots mobilisation and awareness campaigns across Rivers State to ensure more eligible voters, particularly youths, are registered and prepared to participate in the 2027 general elections.
