Albert Ojwang’s widow, Nevnina Onyango, has shared a tearjerking message on her husband’s death anniversary.
It’s been a year since the death of the slain activist, which caused an uproar on social media. He left behind a son and a young wife.
The teacher-turned-blogger was allegedly tortured to death at the Central Police Station in Nairobi on June 7, a day after he was arrested at his village in Kokwanyo village, Homa Bay county.
The blogger was buried on July 4, 2025, in an emotional ceremony attended by thousands of mourners. Ojwang would have turned 32 a month after his gruesome death.

On his death anniversary, she shared a touching message on social media. She recalled the last time she was with him before learning of the tragic news.
“June 7 The last time I spoke to my love, Albert Omondi Ojwang, He was taken by DCI officers at a time like this last year only for us to receive the heartbreaking news the next day that he *hit his head on the wall and died*.”
She admitted that the past year has not been smooth, adding that her family was robbed of a son, a father, and a husband.
“They killed him. The past one year hasn’t been smooth! They robbed my son, a dad, and my mother-in-law, his only son, and this hurts me the most! They did us dirty.” she shared.
