Barcelona make contact with Harry Kane’s camp over possible transfer

Barcelona have made contact with Harry Kane’s representatives over a potential move to the Camp Nou as uncertainty remains over the striker’s long-term future at Bayern Munich.

The England captain has one year left on his current contract with the Bundesliga champions, with negotiations over an extension expected to resume after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite interest from the Spanish champions, Bayern remain confident Kane will commit his future to the club.

Barcelona monitor Kane situation

Kane is understood to be settled in Germany and is currently concentrating on England’s World Cup campaign after scoring three goals during the group stage to help his country reach the knockout rounds.

Barcelona are searching for a new first-choice striker following Robert Lewandowski’s decision to leave at the end of his contract this summer.

The Catalan club reportedly view Kane as an ideal replacement, having previously succeeded Lewandowski at Bayern after the Polish forward departed for Spain in 2022.

Any move, however, could prove complicated. Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness has previously confirmed that Kane’s £57 million release clause expired earlier this year, meaning Barcelona would have to negotiate directly with the German club.

Bayern confident of new contract

Since arriving in Munich, Kane has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards.

The 32-year-old scored 61 goals in 51 appearances last season, surpassing Lewandowski’s record for the most goals in a single campaign for Bayern.

His goals helped Bayern secure the Bundesliga title, the DFB-Pokal and the German Super Cup, while he also finished as Europe’s leading scorer to claim the European Golden Shoe.

Barcelona have already strengthened their squad by signing England winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and remain interested in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, although an initial bid for the Argentine was rejected.
