BREAKING: FCCPC Seals PWAN MAX Lagos Office Over Alleged Unallocated Land Plots

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed the Lagos office of PWAN MAX Property and Business Solutions Ltd over alleged non-compliance with regulatory directives arising from consumer complaints concerning unallocated plots of land.

The enforcement action was carried out by officials of the commission following an investigation into complaints from subscribers who alleged that plots of land they had fully paid for were not allocated to them as agreed.

According to the FCCPC, the matter originated from a complaint filed by a consumer who claimed that 20 plots of land purchased from the company had not been allocated despite full payment. The commission stated that after receiving the complaint, it initiated an investigation and invited representatives of the company to provide explanations regarding the allegations.

The agency disclosed that PWAN MAX was issued a Compliance Notice under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018 after the company allegedly failed to fulfill commitments made during the course of the investigation. The notice reportedly outlined corrective actions required to address the complaints and specified timelines for compliance.

Speaking on the development, FCCPC officials stated that the company did not fully comply with the regulatory directives, prompting the commission to exercise its enforcement powers by sealing the firm’s Lagos premises pending compliance.

The commission noted that the office would remain sealed until the company satisfactorily addresses the identified issues and complies with all regulatory requirements. It also warned that further sanctions, including possible prosecution, could follow if violations persist.

In addition, the FCCPC revealed that it is reviewing other complaints against the company involving land transactions, investments, and property allocation disputes. The agency encouraged affected consumers to come forward with relevant information to aid ongoing investigations.
