LAGOS / UNITED STATES — The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reportedly deported a Nigerian national, Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, following his arrest and detention over multiple sexual offence-related convictions and charges in the United States.
The enforcement action was carried out by the agency’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) unit in Los Angeles, California, where the suspect was taken into custody on April 21, 2026, before removal proceedings were initiated.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Olusanjo, a 53-year-old Nigerian citizen, was identified for removal based on his prior criminal history, which included allegations and arrests linked to sexual offences.
According to ICE statements and official enforcement updates, Olusanjo was arrested during a targeted immigration operation in Los Angeles. He was subsequently placed in federal custody pending deportation.
Authorities said his immigration case was prioritized due to his criminal background, which reportedly involved child molestation, sexual battery, and soliciting lewd conduct.
ICE officials described him as a “criminal non-citizen” and stated that individuals with serious criminal records remain a key focus of removal operations.
Law enforcement records referenced in ICE statements indicate that Olusanjo had previous arrests connected to multiple sexual offence allegations in the United States.
However, ICE has not publicly released full court documentation of the convictions in its official press summaries, and much of the available detail is based on enforcement disclosures and media reports.
Authorities maintained that his record formed the basis for his detention and eventual deportation under U.S. immigration law.
Following his arrest, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations processed Olusanjo for removal from the United States.
Reports indicate that he has since been deported to Nigeria, in line with U.S. immigration policies that allow for the removal of non-citizens convicted of serious crimes, particularly sexual and violent offences.
ICE has consistently stated that its enforcement strategy focuses on protecting public safety by prioritizing the removal of individuals with criminal convictions.
